The Snail load was developed the 2002 time frame and introduced at the Internationale Waffen
Austellung, an arms show in Nuremberg, Germany in 2003. The designer of the round, Vlastimil
Libra, used a solid brass or aluminum bullet with a steel core to produce a round with “managed
deformation,” according to Libra. The combination of materials and the construction gives it high
penetration capability.
